The Schizophonics

Over the last few years, THE SCHIZOPHONICS have built up a formidable reputation around the world as an explosive live act. Tapping into the same unstoppable combination of rock ‘n’ roll energy and showmanship that fueled THE MC5 in the heyday of the Grande Ballroom, their wild live show is heavily influenced by artists like JAMES BROWN, IGGY POP, JIMI HENDRIX, LITTLE RICHARD, and THE SONICS. Singer/guitarist Pat Beers and drummer Lety Beers formed the band in San Diego in 2009 and have worked tirelessly since then, playing hundreds of shows around the globe.

ANDY PITCHER

If you’ve heard Andy Pitcher play guitar, it was most likely on Instagram, where he’s carved his own deep-cut niche in the guitar-demo world. Whether on his page or a manufacturer’s, Pitcher reaches beyond the common uses of gear to dig deep, displaying how a piece inspires him to find new sounds within his own self-described “weird style.” His usage might not speak to the common guitarist, but adventurous players will hear something in Pitcher’s esoteric techniques—wide-finger extended chords to demonstrate an off-kilter fuzz or banging on his guitar’s body to coax chaos out of a granular delay—that speaks to their own sonic-pioneering instincts.

Buddy Zapata’s Dirty Horchatas

Collectively the sound of Zapata’s tunes conjure visions of saw horses, old 78 rpm records, a cast-off voodoo doll and a nylon wig or two, but the melodies, born in the fertile Mississippi Delta, treated by way of East LA and merged with junkshop grind are infused with lyrics that bleed California-grown soul.

WWV LIVE NIGHT 2

Cash and Skye -6pm

Jonny 2 Bags -7pm

Ariel Posen -8pm

Ariel Posen

Ariel Posen’s music occupies the space between genres. It’s a rootsy sound that nods to his influences — heartland rock & roll, electrified Americana, blue-eyed soul, R&B, Beatles-inspired pop — while still moving forward, pushing Posen into territory that’s uniquely his own. Along the way, Posen has received standing ovations not only from his audiences, but also from outlets like Rolling Stone, who dubbed him “a modern-day guitar hero” Music Radar listing him as a fan voted top 10 rock guitarist of the year and the Western Canadian Music Awards who nominated him for Breakout Artist of the Year in 2020 and 2021, as well as Rock Artist of the Year and Recording of the Year in 2022.

Jonny Two Bags

Jonny Wickersham, aka Jonny Two Bags, is a prominent SoCal punk/rock guitarist, best known as the longtime guitarist for Social Distortion since 2000, replacing the late Dennis Danell, and a member of The Cadillac Tramps. He’s a skilled songwriter and frontman for his solo Americana/roots project, also called Jonny Two Bags, which showcases his storytelling and influences from folk, blues, and classic California rock, contrasting his punk roots with heartfelt lyrics and acoustic textures.

Cash & Skye

Los Angeles duo Henri Cash and Sophia Skye, have been casually writing and recording songs together for almost 7 years. They put no pressure on a timeline or genre for their music, often creating songs together that they never knew would see the light of day.
